Battery storage and hydrogen can now be considered alongside solar and wind developments. Batteries offer the potential to smooth out the power load from an intermittent renewable power source whilst also enhancing the resilience of the power grid. The falling cost and improved performance of battery storage systems now make them a real option for co-location at utility-scale solar and wind farms.
We also believe that, despite various false dawns, hydrogen powered by renewables is coming of age. The green hydrogen produced in these systems can enable downstream industrial and transportation networks to de-carbonise making a critical contribution to net zero ambitions.
Renewco will actively explore these technologies alongside its solar and wind developments.
